About Us

Who We Are

The Westwood Educational Foundation, Inc., d/b/a the Foundation for Westwood Education, is a non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization whose mission is to incubate and empower broadly-defined educational programming within Westwood. This is accomplished through collaboration between community members and the Foundation, whereby the Foundation acts as a thought-partner and funding source for community-led projects. The Foundation takes an incubator-style approach, providing seed funding to educational projects with multi-year timelines that will have lasting impact and the potential to become self-sustaining or town-funded beyond the Foundation’s initial support. Westwood residents and organizations have amazing ideas and many would like support in fleshing them into programs that can benefit all Town neighbors. The Foundation recognizes this and seeks to ignite energy and fuel these ideas by giving the most compelling and impactful projects the resources needed to gain traction. Bring your idea to life. You create it, we fund it.

Board Members

Founded in 1991, the Foundation for Westwood Education is run entirely by a board of volunteer members who come from a cross section of schools and community groups in Westwood.

Capitalizing on its long tradition of enriching the Westwood community, while looking toward future needs and opportunities within the educational landscape, the board has recently completed a 24-month internal evaluation that included input from independent, non-profit organization experts, community leaders, and prior donors. Based on this comprehensive assessment, the Foundation has reinvigorated its mission to incubate and empower educational programming in the community by supporting multi-year programs from conceptualization through sustainable self-driving initiatives.

Foundation Impact

Since 1991, the Foundation has awarded more than $1,000,000 in support of high quality educational programming for our public schools and community organizations. Our grants have enabled countless Westwood students and adults to benefit from enriching educational and cultural programs that might not otherwise have been available. These programs have supported both the excellence of our schools and the quality of life in our community. Building on this powerful history of educational enrichment, the Foundation seeks to have an even more substantial impact through its re-imagined incubator-style approach.

Through larger investment dollars, community initiated projects, multi-year timelines, and the goal of self-sustaining operations, the Foundation for Westwood Education continues its tradition of enabling enriching educational programming for all Westwood residents.
